Workplace Assessments
A specialised on-site assessment of the worker's pre-injury duties and/or potential suitable duties with the same or different employer to:
- Identify the critical demands of all work tasks (physical, psychological, social and environmental)
- Establish the work-related performance criteria against which the worker's functional capacity is to be evaluated
- Identify methods of temporarily or permanently modifying/mitigating the work demands to facilitate a safe return to work
- Identify workplace-based strategies which will assist the worker by restoring his/her tolerance by the use of available duties.
The purpose of the workplace assessment is to design a Return to Work Plan that is precisely matched to the worker's functional capacity and which provides for
upgrading commensurate with improving function. The return to work plan may then compliment OR, in itself, substitute for a clinically-based therapeutic program.

Includes identification of transferable skills, consideration of the worker's functional
limitations and capacity and assessment of labour market information.
